Welcome
to Sutton Juniors
Everybody who coaches
or helps out at Sutton Juniors is a volunteer. Please remember
that if they were not willing to put aside a little bit of their
spare time each week, there would be no club. That would mean
that a lot of children would miss out on a lot of enjoyment. If
you think you can help in any way please contact us.
SJFC
Managers are FA Level 1 qualified
6
managers have just completed the FA Level 1 coaching certificate.
This means we now have 8 managers with coaching badges and this
now prepares the way for the club to apply for FA Charter Standard
status. More details on Charter Standard will be available on here
soon.

PRESENTATION EVENING 2008 **
This
years Presentation Evening was held at Keighleys Victoria Hall.
Everybody seemed to enjoy themselves as all players were presented
with their club trophy and special award trophies for Player of
the Year, Most improved and Players Player.
We held an auction where items signed by Jack Charlton and a book
called 'Boys of '72' about the Leeds team of 1972 that won the FA
cup were generously snapped up by members. The book was signed by
10 players including Eddie Gray, Peter Lorimer and Allan Clarke
and went for almost £100.

Sutton
Fun Day Sutton Juniors
were present at Sutton Fun Day. They took part in the parade through
the village and were cheered throughout. The under 11's took the
chance to parade their recent tropies won in Holland.
On
the field there was the popular penalty shootout and beat the goalie
where quite a few people were successful and took home the prize
of a football. John was tested to the full by the shootouts and
seemed to enjoy keeping out shots from his old team-mates.
I will get some more photos on soon, please send us any you think
we would like to see.
DADS
Tournament 2008
Well,
another great Dads tournament has taken place and was eventually
won by a familiar, if not so pretty, face. Once again, it was Andy
Steel (2006 winner) and his under 7's team that came out worthy
winners.
The 5 teams were evenly matched again this year and provided the
usual entertainment of comedy errors, some good skills and some
painfull fouls (as I found out).
With
better weather this year all the teams started out full of energy
and raring to go. The first two matches both produced goalless draws
as most of the dads re-discovered the art of running again (some
only do this once a year). The teams realised that they needed to
get some goals if they were to show the kids how to play so once
the teams had got their legs moving a little faster the goals started
to go in.
By the time the bacon & sausage sarnis (thanks to Alan, Aimee
and Judith) had just about gone, and after much sweat and fighting
through pain barriers, we had our semi finalists.
Now it was becoming really hard work for the oldies to keep going
but somehow they just about managed it, one team having to win by
the dreaded sudden death penalties, we had our two finalist, the
U6's & U7's.
After a short rest both teams entertained the fans with a keenly
fought out final which was eventually won by the slightly more energetic
Under 7's........WELL DONE GUYS.
Also
a mention to...
James Pepper - Goal of the tournament
and
Chris Hall (that's me) - Player of the tournament
Thanks
again to Alan, Aimee & Judith for the barbecue that kept us
all going and to the two refs who struggled to keep the dads under
control.
Let's
see you all there again next year for more of the same.
